Carrera 3.0 Registry - Certified Vehicle Record (CVR)

Preserving the Production History of the 1976–1977 Porsche Carrera 3.0

Over the past few years, I’ve worked to research and preserve the production history of as many 1976–1977 Porsche Carrera 3.0s as possible. What began as a personal archival project has grown into a dedicated effort to accurately document and honor these rare cars.  The Carrera 3.0 Registry and its Certified Vehicle Record (CVR) program were created not for profit, but to ensure each car’s story is recorded and remembered for generations to come.

What is a CVR Certified Vehicle Record?

The CVR Certified Vehicle Record is an archival document produced by the Carrera 3.0 Registry, based on verified extracts from original Porsche factory production records.  Each CVR represents years of research, data preservation, and careful transcription of historical factory information — assembled to provide owners with an accurate, enduring record of their car’s production details.

This document is designed to serve as a heritage-grade reference and an heirloom-quality companion to your Carrera 3.0, providing historical context and authenticity to accompany the car through future ownership.

What You Receive

Each CVR package includes:

  • A black leather-bound presentation folder embossed in gold with the Carrera 3.0 Registry crest

  • A Certified Vehicle Record Summary, listing verified production data and factory-installed options drawn directly from the Registry’s archival database.

  • A Historical Record Statement page, sealed with the Official Seal of the Carrera 3.0 Registry in wax.

  • Each CVR is individually prepared, numbered, and validated from original Porsche archival data — not a mass-produced certificate.

Pricing and Verification

  • Standard CVR Certified Vehicle Record: $600 USD

  • Discounted CVR (with Porsche COA, PPS, certificate, Factory Letter, etc.): $500 USD

If you already possess an official Porsche document — such as a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), Porsche Production Specification (PPS), or an original Porsche factory letter listing options or production details — the Registry will cross-reference your data to ensure alignment and historical accuracy.

All fees help offset the ongoing cost of maintaining the Registry archives, verifying factory data, and producing each record to archival standards.

Purpose and Intent

The Carrera 3.0 Registry is an independent archival project, not affiliated with or sponsored by Porsche AG or its subsidiaries.

These records are presented solely for historical and reference purposes and are intended to preserve the legacy of the 1976–1977 Porsche Carrera 3.0 — Der Unbekannte 911 (“The Unknown 911”).

The Registry is maintained as a personal archival effort, not for profit. The fee for each CVR simply helps recover a portion of the substantial time and personal expense invested in sourcing, compiling, and preserving this historical data for the benefit of the Carrera 3.0 community.

Each document is produced from original Porsche factory production data held in the Registry’s archives and carries the Registry’s official seal to confirm its provenance within the Registry’s database.

How to Request a CVR

To begin the process:

  1. Contact the Registry via email at registry@carrera30.net

  2. Include your chassis number and any Porsche documentation (if applicable).

  • All information and materials submitted to the Registry will remain private. No CVR data or supporting documents will be published, shared, or made public without the owner’s written consent.

  3. Once verified, you’ll receive instructions for payment and delivery.

CVRs are typically produced and shipped within 3–6 weeks of confirmation.
